I find it intriguing that these real-life respectable women of the late 1800s were secretly serial killers. I decided they would make perfect subject matter for a series of paintings. From a distance, each woman appears perfect in an ornamental hats and brocade dress, but look closer and you’ll see snakes, spiders, guns and other symbols that betray their true natures. Plus, you’ll find hidden messages about their murderous nature.
BELLE – She lured at least 20 men to her home, promising business opportunities involving her vast real estate holdings, but she chopped them up and buried them on her farm after taking their money.
